PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Know what the route is—and what it is not.

This page covers Sweden’s standard employer-based work-permit route, not an open work permit. A signed employment agreement, compliant terms and employer participation are central.

From 1 June 2026, the general salary floor is 90% of the median salary current when the application is assessed, and pay must also match collective agreements or normal industry practice. Exceptions and transition rules require individual checking.

ROUTES AND STATUS

Understand the distinction before choosing.

These routes have different legal outcomes and conditions. The right starting point depends on your facts.

RouteStatusHow it works
Employee work permitEmployer-based temporary permissionThe employer provides employment information and completes required recruitment and insurance steps; the applicant completes the permit application.
Accompanying familySeparate residence applicationsEligible family may apply, but the worker must meet the applicable family maintenance rules. Adult family members and qualifying older children may work if permits are granted.
03
ELIGIBILITY

The points we review first.

  • 01

A qualifying employment agreement and valid passport are required.

  • 02

Salary and employment conditions must meet the current Swedish Migration Agency rules, including any applicable exemption.

  • 03

Employer insurance and recruitment obligations must be checked. Language requirements depend on the job; German A1 is not a general Swedish work-permit requirement.

04
POTENTIAL BENEFITS

A route should serve the life you are planning.

  • An opportunity to work in Sweden under an approved permit.
  • Accompanying family applications may be possible under the relevant requirements.

HOW PLAN B HELPS

Practical guidance, from profile to preparation.

We help organise your profile, identify information gaps, explain the official requirements and coordinate an agreed preparation checklist. Final eligibility and every decision remain with the relevant authority. Regulated representation and legal advice must come from an appropriately authorised professional; confirm the adviser’s credentials and written scope before proceeding.
